The order was given just before 8:00 last night (Friday) as a result of the Parker Lake wildfire burning about 12 kilometers west of the town.
Residents were asked to drive south down highway 97 to Fort St. John.
According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire is now 800 hectares large and is still out of control.
