A grizzly bear attack on Saturday (September 7th) at about noon left a woman injured near Burns Lake.
The incident happened near the Shelford Forest Service Road.
According to the BC Conservation Service (COS), the woman came upon a female grizzly and her cubs while they were eating berries.
After the mother attacked, bear spray was used and the bear retreated.
Both the RCMP and Search and Rescue worked to find the victim transported to hospital via helicopter.
Her injuries were not life threatening.
Upon investigation, COS determined the attack was defensive and no efforts were made to capture the bear.
The COS encourages everyone to take safety precautions in case of wildlife encounters.
