Funding distributed to help speed up home construction

Funding is going to several communities in BC to help speed up the delivery of homes through the Local Government Development Approvals Program.

“Our province continues to grow with more people than ever before choosing to call B.C. home,” said Anne Kang, Minister of Municipal Affairs.

Included in that list is Telkwa getting $150,000, Houston receiving $90,000, and Fort St. James seeing $64,000.

This is being provided through the Union of BC Municipalities to help communities create new ways of supporting non-profit housing development.

“This funding will help catalyze that work and support local governments as they implement best practices related to permit approvals, inspections and more,” said Trish Mandewo, president, UBCM.

In total, the province is sending about $4.4 million in funding.
