Eight northern BC projects receive funding green light

Eight projects across Northern BC are receiving part of $140,374 from the Nechako-Kitimaat Development fund. 

NKDF Chair Cindy Shelford said, ““We are pleased to start this funding cycle with grants for an incredible variety of projects that support healthy communities and fire suppression efforts and provide important recreational opportunities for residents to come together and celebrate.” 

The Village of Fraser Lake is getting $50,000 towards a new water reservoir along with various water infrastructure upgrades. 

A new drone and drone pilot training are being funded $10,000 for the Cheslatta Carrier Nation.

$8,400 is going to the Gospel Evangelical Free Church Society for upgrades to their building’s exterior. 

The Vanderhoof International Airshow Society is getting $5,000 for their upcoming exhibition in August. 

$4.700 is going to the Nechako View Senior Citizens Home Society for two new greenhouses. 

The Burns Lake Native Development Corporation is receiving $10,000 for their annual National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration running June 18th through 22nd. 

$5,000 is going to the Burns Lake Soccer Association to purchase new nets so they can hold more tournaments and have more kids practicing any given day. 

The Haisla Nation Volunteer Fire Department will get new bunker gear and hoses thanks to a $47,274 grant. 

Applications for the next round of funding ends March 31st, 2025, with $385,000 available.
